This narrow rear yard lot, typical to many Toronto neighbourhoods, was challenging and yet rewarding to design for our clients.  

A simple wish list to incorporate a large pool, hot tub, shelter and various lounge areas to  entertain their family and friends, was requested. From this we strived to develop the most aesthetically pleasing yet functional concept for the site. 

With limited width to the lot, the decision to vary the levels of features like a raised spa, water wall, plantings and shelter at the end of the property, achieved a spacial expanse and visual interest from all views within the site and into the space from within the home. 

The final product resulting in a calm minimalist oasis that achieved balance in masculine and feminine energy. This warm and inviting space exceeded the expectations of our clients and they continue to enjoy it to this day as their “private retreat”.
